Dinner Time

Minor disagreement. Mum wants to go for dinner in Temiang now, but dad hesitated. He is giving tuition in school tonight at 8pm and wants to go out later for dinner, and drive to school after that. Mum's pretty tired now, sleeping in her room...

Sienz, as you can see here is playing some sort of MSN games with his friend

Rux is sleeping like a pig, the sleeping anaconda python cross breed... Hope that it's viable though!

Meanwhile I am loitering around with the camera snapping pictures of boredom. What the heck did my mum bought today? The fruit is smooth on the outside, have some radial grooves, and feels like a soft, oval apple. I don't dare taste it though, who knows what it might be... It comes in sorts of colors that you will find in a Ishihara chart, light green, yellow, orange... Mother thinks she inherit the troubled X gene? Certainly no! If me or my brothers show any traits of it, maybe our definition of DOTA heroes or DOOM monsties will be different, i.e. we will no call an Imp a red pig (it hurls red fireballs) and a Baron of Hell a green pig (green fireballs, duh!) Here goes the fruit
So then I went around the house, and discovered what a camera can do...

Err... Am I lost in the woods? What's with the metal grill? Is this a huge human trap set by some monstrous man eaters that we shall not speak of? OMG, red! The color that attracts them!

OMG! Huah I've shrunken myself! Help! Here! NONONO! DON'T STEP ON ME! Batty you biatch! stop licking me like I'm some kind of delicacy! I'll have your tongue cut when I'm back to myself ahemm ahemm...

Brazil vs Ghana, Spain vs France and The Stepford Wives

Went to DongHao's house yesterday night. Along the way, dogs are littered across the road, barking at me. Some threatened to bite me, barking in a more intense way compared to the others. Had to rely on my bag (quite heavy, filled with my trusty Robbins) to protect me from the menance...

Reached the house, watched some football matches. It turns out to be a boring match (due to the fact that Spain lost) but some channel saved the day. The Stepford Wives they're showing. I was expecting the ending to be the same as the newer modern version. However it's more sinister... A peaceful town hiding its dark secrets. Kinda pity the mother, is it Joanne? What husband will want a robot to serve him instead of his faithful wife? And sending her to her death just doesn't make sense. This applies to the other husbands and their spouses too... Maybe the movie is about the male dream---"Total Dominance"!

SeeJong's Rantings

SeeJong is hopping mad I can see. His last post is not a happy one.

Hope that it is an isolated case. Feels the other way though...

The nation's future lies in hold...

Elective = GG

I was sorting out the data from the ELISA reader tonight when, I realized our biggest mistake.

The control wells are supposed to be filled with about 2% DMSO. We added 10%. That's why the cell death in the wells exceeded our plant extract wells... OMG! I was thinking initially that the herbs are helping the growth of cancerous cells! Turns out to be a big mistake.

Elective = GG!

The bigger mistake though, we have 1 week left and we are supposed to plate another 10 plates, and add in the serial diluted extracts, which takes almost forever... Monday and Tuesday next week will be big days indeed. Working in shifts, hoping that nothing will go wrong again... Hope that I can have Wednesday and Thursday off... Friday will be hectic too --- the ELISA thing again...

In shorter terms, our holidays are over. Back to Pathology (killer), Microbiology, Pharmacology and Parasitology...

Patho = GG!

University Application Results 2006

University application results are out! Yeah!

However.... My hometown favorites fate are on hold... 2 of my juniors ended up where I belonged, USM, well... Looks like I don't get a small buddy this year, sad! Hope though they can make it through the appeal and be my small puppy! The Paulian life-guard was chartered to UKM, sad! There goes our hopeful 001! I'll drown myself in UT, die a peculiar way, angle myself into some wierdo's potrait, and send her the message, 'Aihz! We hope that you were here, 001!'

Somehow, the selection is based on something else, as usual. Merit is the last thing they'll do... Some of the people I encounter here doesn't belong... They're better off doing other less hazardous job. Seriouly, I've met people whom, you'll be afraid to ask for his professional opinion on your condition if you knew them... The public is the loser in every case! Bad bad bad for the rakyat... Good for the bangsa though!

Priorities, Reviewed

My priorities again :

  • GF
  • Family
  • Books
  • DoTA

Not in order, the first one doesn't mean the top priority. Hmm... The last one sound interesting though, but books are equally important, dealing with people's life... Aihz! If I can't pawn people in DoTA, maybe I can kill some in the hospital in the future?? Eh?? Something's wrong here...

Long live Mahatir! He's our champion for free speech that our country lack, since as long as I can remember... Eh?? I sense something amiss... He finally became the people's voice? I thought that he had always been the rakyat's voice... Wonder why he decided to turn over a new leaf and stab people. Perhaps it's just his nature to BS, plus post-putra-office syndrome and a little bit of nyanuk-ness...

Wonder if your dad tells you one day, 'Son, you're a mistake. I made a mistake marrying your mum. I should had listened to my parents and siblings and marry Alice instead of your mum. However, I married her because I feel like it. Your mum and you were a mistake, you shouldn't be here.'

Shopping Spree

Shopping for laptop for Sienz today... We went around Low Yat asking for prices for a Acer 5642. Spec's almost the same to Shiun Woei's except for the webcam and 1 minor thing, so we took the cheaper alternative, upgraded to 1GB of RAM of course... So we went around and around a few floors asking and looking and going through A4 printed brochures... Finally we got our deal, RM3460 at a counter beside the escalators. My dad asked about paying with cards and.... They charge us RM70 if we were going to pay via credit card! We decided that we could spend the 70 ringgit on something better e.g. our dinner at the Hongkie Restaurant in Sungai Wang Plaza, so I proposed to withdraw RM3k from my bank account at the nearby (from the 3rd floor to LowerGround) ATM machine.

We reached the ATM machine after going down a few floors with the escalator and finally gave up going round and round to each escalator's beginning. So we took the emergency stairs. Finally we reached the machines. I withdrew 1k from Maybank. I was going for the second thousand when the display read, 'You have reached the DAILY limit of RM1000 withdrawal.' OMG! I had to withdraw 1k from my BCB account via MEPS. The third thousand was a fuss too... My BCB account allows me to withdraw 1k per day also??!! However, the MEPS function on the RHB and Maybank machines just read, 'An error had occured during the transection.' instead of properly informing me of my daily limit... Zzz... They should have been more specific. Defunct machines, I said...

We had 2k but we needed 3k. Sienz look through his wallet and, voila! There was 500Dollars in this piece of man-made-leather! We rushed to the money changer and changed $400 into RM900+ (mind you, it's Singaporean $ not US$) Yeah! We got the 3k!

The rest is history. Now Sienz is helping both piracy, transferring songs and stuff... Heheh!

An Evening Outing

I woke to a rainy 6.45pm. Looked out from my perch and found the Federal Highway CONGESTED, and the traffic is stuck on Jalan University... That was when I noticed that my housemates are gone --- to Midvalley for movies! Oh no! I was hoping to get a ride to Midvalley's KTM station! Too late I realized that I didn't inform Sou Chen properly about my plans...

I'm going to my girlfriend's place. She sounded poor on the phone, and was very blur. I was kinda worried. On the grounds of giving physical and moral support, I decided to brave the rain, brave the jam and find a way.

I took a cab from UT to Taman Jaya. On the LRT, I overheard some Indian lady on her phone, Ampang's flash flooded... Ah! None of my concern, none of the authorities either. Everytime KL was hit by some kind of storm, places will be flooded, as usual... I see so many sky-scrapers sprout out, but I don't see the money going into the rakyat's interest. Even the SMART project is taking such a long time to be completed. (Personally I don't have faith in the project either. I really think that one day, during a flash flood scenario, the you-know-I-know insufficiency of the operators will result in a traffic jam, worst, it's underground in a proposed highway cum drain. I think many cars will be lost in that particular incident. Hope that people can climb out real fast though!) Seems the authorities, answerable to greater authorities, answerable to even greater authorities, are interested only to place Malaysia on the world map rather than tackling some nagging problems of the country. Sigh!

Then I reached Masjid Jamek's STAR LRT station. I knew not the origin of the name, 'Masjid Jamek' but I found that out today. Blaring 'music', the 'doa' was channeled through some huge speakers situated not far away from the station. Normally I would get a serious headache, but there was some difference in this 'doa' compared to the others I usually hear. This one has a tone of sadness, and yet it's a very peaceful sadness, or sorrow. This tone plus the setting sun plus the light shower plus the cool temperature somehow makes me think of Turkey in Malaysia. Why so? Turkey is always shaded by light brown to orange colour - the setting sun, it is situated at the Mediterranean - the cool temperature, and it is littered with mosque - the nice 'doa'.

Finally I hopped into a oncoming train and reached Salak Selatan. I noticed at Salak Selatan, a lot of young girls in miniskirts and raging outfits (in my standards though LOL) alighted from the train. They looked so cool until they stepped into some kind of old van or car. This makes me wonder. Did they spend all their money their parents provided on make-up? Did they do it because of work requirements? No way... I think they are still schooling. Are they so low in self esteem that they have to dress up to the latest fashion to keep themselves confident enough to face the world? Most likely. Sigh! Teens, anyone?

Bad Things Come to an End

Bad things do come to an end. A peaceful one, not a tragic end. Speeding on the highway in a futile attempt to escape doesn't help, in fact, it further complicates your ending, such as these poor souls (they're RACING on the NorthSouth expressway when suddenly found themselves caught a bullet train to hell, heaven, whatever, tragic ending yet a grim reminder!)

I find myself still wondering here in UM, what will Ms Tan do with the magnetic stir. We can't allign the magnet bar accordingly to the machine, and it jumped all around in the flask containing our culture media when we turned the stir on. Hoped that she'll get it. I used one in my Form 6 years, and they're beautiful, the spirals created by the stirring bar.

Speaking of exams, Huah's having her part one now. To complicate matters, she's sick! Vomited last night at 1am, having diarrhoea for the last few days and complaning of headaches due to too much studying and memory work... Hope that she'll get well soon... She probably won't see my wishes here (she very seldom go online) but nevertheless, good luck in your exams! The fun will begin after next Tuesday... We'll most likely go looking for FOOD! Ramen in Jusco and steamboat in Lobak... What Fun! After that she'll have 3 months off, I will still be wandering around UM looking for ways to entertain myself... Sigh!

Sighs

There was one feature on the previous VCD player in my living hall. It's called something A-B. You hit the button to set the starting point, A, of repetition (of the track) and subsequently the second time, B for the end of the repeat. Dong Hao once suggested to use the feature to view and view for an indefinite time, the sex scene in one of my werewolves movies that we watched with Liang Wei in the wee hours before some kind of CWLP trip.

Today, this feature came back from the grave to haunt me (the VCD player's broken for ages, and we've sent it to it's eternal lying place) I woke up this morning to the monotonous repetition of my mum's piano playing. She was repeating some bars from the song "Moon River" for eternity. It was like listening to a broken recording, or some scratched CD repeating the same "phrase" over and over and over again until you cannot stand it, I can't stand it neither... Spoilt my waking up mood...

I then found my brother Lin Sien in front of the computer, and we agreed to DoTA. It was a hard hard game, with the enemy's Naix going wild with Satanic and a Heart... Then we were like defending and earning some cash to buy late game items. Enemy can't push into our base due to our creep clearing abilities, and their level 25 heroes are almost "full-grown"... So we are like just defending and keeping them out and waiting for the right moment to strike, uh, buy! Then came the nagging thing again.. Lunch! Parents are already asking us for lunch, which turns out to be fried rice (home cooked food) We are not hungry, but they persisted in, 'Lunch!' and 3('Going to eat lunch soon!') You do the maths... In order to keep them satisfied, we had to ABANDON our poor teammates (the game depends on teamwork, another hour's time and we'll kill off the enemy) and go for LUNCH even though we ARE NOT HUNGRY. Sigh! My mood was really spoilt then... Darn!

We could have won the game... Even the Naix knew about this... And yet...
