Punctuality

we run by the minutes, if not seconds...
I am wasting time again, no thanks to the clinician, who scheduled a ward round this morning and canceling it with a phone call to the ward, 'Ar, I am in some operation now. Come this evening!' He couldn't have picked a better time. I wonder how can he forget that we, not being robots programmed by the University, made our own plans and have to cancel it in favor of this, unexpected turn of events, to add to the fact that the 'plans' mentioned is not of private matter, it's about selling pen to raise money for the Medical Society's annual event... I wonder again don't they have schedules in hospitals? Don't they at least pen down who's supposed to do which operation and when is it supposed to be done? Maybe we're still students, but we sure deserve some explanation, not being proud or cocky here, but this is a disrespect. In my opinion, promises are not meant to be broken, and I cannot tolerate the habit of not being punctual. That's why I hate Chinese dinners, especially wedding dinners... Excuses are always lousy to me, unless he has some kind of really good reasons, backed up with some proof!

Elective Month + Opioid Lecture

The elective month is looming just around the corner. Some said that it's the week of relaxation, no fuss, no lectures. Some said it's a holiday instead, finishing faster equals longer holidays. I say it's the month for DoTA. I am already behind others in DoTA... Skills diminishing + Slower reflexes due to too much work (just a hypothesis)

So familiar... Isn't it the same one I planted just yesterday..?

Today's lecture is about opioids (endogenous included) Dr. Sim (Debra) taught us well, good enough to let my primitive ape brain to understand that endogenous opioids are released when you are involved in sports, and that's what makes you feel 'high' and gay. Cheah, sitting beside me, immediately chirped in, 'DoTA!' Hehe playing DoTA really boosts spirits (of course, to be on the winning side) Thus, we postulated that it's the new kind of 'sports' we're very much into.

Speaking about synthetic opioids, I suddenly remember the vow to remind my parents that, I don't take drugs; I don't smoke; I don't drink; I don't gamble; I don't frequent nightclubs; I don't sleep around; I don't spend; I don't dye nor pierce; I don't lie; but I just DoTA... That's it!

Hehe on a much more lighter tone here, we were discussing about the cold-turkey treatment addicts had to endure (Dr. Sim shoke her head in disappointment as she voiced out that addicts, even after the 7 days of hell, as she puts it, return to the embrace of drugs) I was thinking that if I take drugs, and now I'm in the 'turkey-chamber', would a computer linked up to the world with a copy of DoTA suffice the need of drugs?

Sniff Sniff, out of the freezer into the oven!

Baseline : Do play DoTA, Don't take drugs!

Semi Finals, Thomas Cup

OMG Malaysia made it to the semi-finals of the Thomas Cup in Japan this year. I am now watching the deciding match, singles, between some Persson (Denmark) and Kuan Beng Hong (Malaysia) in my house. Persson ust won the first round 21-12 I think. I don't really remember what's Beng Hong's score, but the fact that he lost the first round sounds bad. Looks like Malaysia's prognosis is not looking quite good... I think Beng Hong will lose, he just doesn't seem aggressive enough to challenge the tall European. Aihz! There goes our hope again...

Now the second round has just started, and we are already trailing 4-0... Zzz... Ah! Finally! A long shot got Persson stumbling back to retrieve the ball! Darn! 6-1 now just after I celebrate the point mentioned aboved... Zzz... 2-6 now, can we catch up? I doubt so... Now my dad is muttering, "Ah... Cannot play already!" Wah 8-3 already so fast??? Uh-oh... 9-3. Our guy's just strafing high shots at the European. Zzz... Why why why??? He's going to be outplayed.

Maybe I shouldn't waste my time here in front of the TV. Perhaps it is better to cheer myself and my brother in DoTA... At least we can still produce some results!

Flashie in Tanjung Malim

My good friend, Chin Yee from B block had her 3 days worth of break back in her hometown. She was feeling hungry on Sunday night and her mum, who loved her ever so much, drove out with the rest of the family (her dad and younger sister) to pack some supper... Chin Yee stayed in her house watching TV, leaving the gate open for convenience sake, but kept the house grill locked.

Our subject : the second girl on the right, the one in blue jeans with the pink wristband

She was watching one of her favorite shows that she was oblivious to her surroundings. It was then when she heard some knocking. She turned and went blue. There was a silhouette behind the front grill blinds and there was something sticking in from outside between the grills. To her HORROR and DISGUST, it was a man without his SHORTS!! She went trembling and shaking. I think she yelled for help but she was alone in the house. By the time she managed to get a chopping knife from the kitchen and venture to the front door to confront the man, he was gone...

Her parents, upon reaching the house, got quite upset by the matter, but I think her father tried to play it down. After some chit-chatting with the neighbors, they found out that it probably was some weird Chinese guy. To add to the final insult, some sticky, milky white fluid was found at the front door... Turns out to be the guy’s semen. Ewww...

We told Chin Yee to stay alert as this incident was such a coincidence, happening when she’s home alone, and she seldom return to her hometown. We think the guy must have been some kind of sex maniac stalking Chin Yee... Some of us even postulated that Chin Yee must have fascinated that guy with her antics... Haha!!

Funny story indeed for a boring weekend.

TM really spoilt my mood. The phone line was dead and the broadband was lagging way badly, and yet they asked us to check our router after they manage to repair the line (repairs that did not give us back our dial-tone), which we seriously doubt is the root of the problem... The problem? Poor customer service and bad trouble-shooting. The worst part is; no line, no DoTA!!!

And in the library today, I forgot to sign-out my MSN Messenger before going for lunch. Luckily though, I REMEMBERED and no one used the terminal after I left... Zzz... That was so uncharacteristic of me.
