STORM, (bo) Earth and (certainly bo) Fire

A stormy evening in KL. As we walked out of the lecture hall at 3pm, the land was dark. The unmistakable sound of the storm is deafening, occasional flashes of lightning throws everyone into panic mood. The wind is happily gushing droplets of water onto our cold, hungry body. The whole situation seems like hell, with the fire replaced by water of course. The canopy along the paths are of little use, we were soaked by the time we reach the main block connecting the hospital.

A band of us from UT cannot walk back to our apartment, not even with the help of umbrellas. The magnitude of the storm is beyond the puny powers of our umbrellas. So we seek cover in the cafe. It's tea time then! We ate as if there's no tomorrow. I took 3 kuih malas and 5 lekur-s. It was nothing like the storm outside. We were protected by the 4 walls (plus the roof) and not to mention, chatting gayly, enjoying the snacks dipped in chili sauce (by the way, we finished the sauce and some nurses murmured, "Medical Students niaa...." I think their "Zzz" is inaudible though!

After tea, the cats and dogs were still falling out of the sky. We discussed our options and got a few ultimates,

1. RUN across the busy Jalan University, daring the rain
2. RUN to the bus stop and seek cover
3. Cheng Hong, Suet Chee and me make good use of Suet Chee's small umbrella (which can barely shield 2 persons) whereas Cheah RUN
4. Hire a CAB

Needless to say, we took the fourth option. All long the roads in the hospital, road cones were lying down on the ground, being pelleted by God's bullets. It was a relief when our cab reach UT. Little do we know, we were still being outplayed by god himself. As the taxi cruised into B block's basement, we saw the final hurdle to safety---the basement is in ankle deep water. Now my friends gleefully leaped into the water. Me however, found no choice but to take off my shoes. No they're not new shoes, they're old (I wore it since 2002/2003) and it's torn in any places, and the sole 'aqueducts' might just get filled up, turning my shoes into some kind of well... So I had to go barefooted. Out of curiosity, we went down another floor to see whether Cheng Hong's car is submerged. We were half expecting water to gush into the elevator when the doors open. On the contrary, the situation on floor below seems more than fine. There were only patches of water around. Well, the water is still flowing down the ramp from A block's Lower Basement, and Cheng Hong decided to move his car, just in case something happens (KL was hit by a flash flood before in which some buildings had their basements literally turned into a muddy swimming pool)

It was during the discussion near the ramp when we noticed this...

The Watercurtain

3 Idiots by the Waterfall

Seems that the Upper Basement has its sides built slightly higher than the floor, and it's turned into a sea of water, where the only significant water outlet is this hole at the ramp. What a phenomenon! A curtain of water! Wonder if we could strip naked and bathe in this, uh, unintentionally man-made waterfall!
